Character Development
Character development creates and evolves characters in the story to make them feel realistic, relatable, and meaningful. This includes name, who they are, how they act, and how they change throughout the story. Our goal is to make sure that each of my friends is realistic and feels unique.
The first thing is names; we are aiming for names that are common and sound familiar. For the first boy, we came up with Ethan, who is curious, which is why he is the first one to approach the bag. The second and third boys, Sebastian and Nicolas, are more laid-back. For the fourth and final boy, we have Chris, who arrives after the events happen to the three other friends.

Personalities
Personalities will contribute to character development by driving the storyline forward. Ethan is the curious one; we thought of how he would react to the strange events which shape his actions in the future. He is the first one to see the bag and the first one to check it out. Sebastian and Nicolas are more laid-back and chill boys; with both of them first ignoring the bag, which adds to the tension of the story as it hints to the audience that something is about to happen, but the characters don't know yet, as a result of building suspense.
Chris, the fourth friend, adds an emotional response to a supernatural event. For him, we want him to be similar to the audience, as he is just placed in the situation with no knowledge of what truly happened. His personality contrasts with the three other friends, adding to the tension of the story line.
Their personalities relate to their interactions with items within the story. Ethan's curiosity is shown through his interest in the bag. Sebastian and Nicolas wanting to leave the bag alone show that they are uninterested in things. Chris’s reaction to the personal items on the floor from his missing friends shows his fear.
Reflection
With character development, it helps me plan how the suspense will unfold. Through their personalities, storyline, and reactions, the supernatural event seems even more unsettling. Each of the boys’ personalities is built to create tension, helping to achieve the best thriller opening possible.
